Norris Tops Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five grands prix.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in realistic title contention, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, though minor, when he spun at the fourth corner soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the exit kerbs before sliding over the run-off area, and was lucky to escape with just a minor contact of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the final bend on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were far ahead of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
