Gun-wielding individuals have killed a teacher and kidnapped no fewer than 25 pupils in an raid targeting a girls' secondary school in Nigeria's northwestern region, according to police.
The gang of attackers breached the public educational institution for female students in Kebbi State's Maga area at around 4 AM local time on the beginning of the work week, officials stated.
The assailants "engaged police personnel on duty in a gun duel" before scaling the perimeter fence and abducting the learners from their dormitory, authorities disclosed.
An educational worker was lost their life while safeguarding the students. A second sustained gunshot wounds and is now being treated medically.
